About this guide
Last reviewed · verify live park facts with NPWSSA
flindersrangesnationalpark.com.au is an independent, unofficial visitor guide. We help people plan walks, gorge drives, itineraries, stays and tours in and around Ikara-Flinders Ranges National Park, SA. We concentrate on heat, the 450 km Adelaide drive, starting at Wilpena, pest-control night closures, unsealed gorge roads after rain, and the Adnyamathanha request to stay at Tanderra Saddle rather than the St Mary Peak summit. Those facts would be false on a Blue Mountains cliff day or a Wilsons Promontory vehicle-limit day — they are this park’s first-visit trap. Planning is from official NPWSSA pages, not a field diary. Now write the two Plan B articles. I'll insert them at the start of blogPosts.
We are not National Parks and Wildlife Service South Australia (NPWSSA), the Department for Environment and Water (DEW), the Government of South Australia, the Adnyamathanha Traditional Lands Association, Wilpena Pound Resort, or any other government agency or commercial operator unless explicitly stated.
We acknowledge the Adnyamathanha people as Traditional Owners of this Country and their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. This site does not speak for Traditional Owner groups or for NPWSSA.

How we work (accuracy policy)
We read the official Ikara-Flinders Ranges park pages, Wilpena Visitor Centre hours, CFS fire guidance and DIT outback road reports, then write the practical bits visitors need for a trip. We do not invent live track status, guaranteed open/closed claims, or official fee tables as permanent facts. Uncertain figures are marked [VERIFY].
- Distances, grades, fees and open/closed status must be verified on official NPWSSA pages before you travel. We never invent live closures.
- Site-wide content review date: . Individual pages may note the same stamp.
- This site does not publish a public contact email — see Contact for official park channels and site expectations.

Advertising & affiliates

National Parks Guide Australia network
This is one deep park guide (Ikara-Flinders Ranges) in the National Parks Guide Australia network of independent visitor guides. The visitor-facing hub is National Parks Guide Australia — browse the full directory and multi-park collections. The publisher behind the network remains Farming Domains.

Ikara–Flinders sits on hub collections for parks that are not a casual capital day-trip, wildlife (yellow-footed rock-wallabies on Brachina), and serious hiking (St Mary Peak / Ngarri Mudlanha) — unlike a Sydney cliff outing or a Red Centre dune day.
